With the opening of the Pasing Arcades in March 2011, the architects at RKW once again gave proof of their core competence in the field of detailed and execution planning. Based on a design by ASW Allmann Sattler Wappner, mfi is executing a first building phase next to the Pasing station for an immense, 270-metres long eight-storey building. Spread across three retail levels, a pleasantly curved shopping street featuring over 100 shops has been created here. The continuity of details in regard to new materials, lighting and colour must be emphasised. The shopping mall's interior surprises customers with unusually unconventional designs of the tenants' façades and the mall. Above the retail floors, a residential and office development has been created which draws its quality from the intense greenery of the roof areas. The defining identity is the rhomboid-shaped very light façade which expresses an unusually kinked geometry which proved challenging for the detail planning. Upon completion, the rhomboids' artful alternation of translucent, frosted, perforated, all-over and partly illuminated surfaces will create a playful and diverse look. The residential and office buildings are sound insulated and can be accessed via their independent stairwells which regularly face south – all of which comes inclusive of a view of the Alps during warm weather conditions.
