Located on the grounds of the former abattoir in Hanau, the Postcarré retail park forms the south-west border to Hanau's city centre. To maintain the listed Bracker Hall a multiple-segment ensemble was created. The architectural border to Steinheimer Stasse is marked by the so-called "Linse", or lens, a crooked two-storey building whose reddish-brown colour interprets the brick material found here without competing with the historical substance. To the south is a single-storey bar-like structure used as a discount store, whose superelevated head segues from the roadside construction into the open structure of the retail park. At its midst is the Bracker Hall, which has been refurbished in line with heritage protection guidelines, whereby major parts have been rebuilt. To compensate for the deficit in greenery in the city's south-west, a district park is located between the hall and the discount store structure. Next to the north of Bracker Hall is the central passage of the retail park. The concept thus structures the overall architecture into individual buildings, each of a different architectural character, forming a balanced transition between large-scale retail businesses and the small-scale inner city of Hanau.
