Düsseldorf Oberkassel is known as a high-end residential area. On Salierstrasse, near the meadows along the banks of the river Rhine, RKW advanced a building style which meets the needs of the affluent citizens and which could play a major role in the future of this city district: the urban residential palace. With its vertical body, it emulates the height of surrounding edifices, while its façade clearly mirrors the individual storeys. Its exterior, of a vertical and rhythmic structure all around, is defined by ceiling-high windows which permit for a particularly generous relationship between the inside and the outside. The individual residential units are developed starting from their centre and are comprised of a representative part featuring a kitchen and dining room, a living-room with a library or study, as well as elements such as conservatory, loggias, terraces or roof gardens. A private segment includes the bedrooms, dressing rooms and bathrooms. These differentiated room sequences, just as the generous development, the quality, durable materials with wooden panelling and natural stone facing or the skilful room set, make up the very special quality of the residential palace.
