To Düsseldorf's eastern edge lies the Grafenberger Forest on the foothills of the Bergisches Land. This is where a new district is being built around the historic circular kiln of the former Sassen brick factory, which is closely linked with Düssedorf's architectural development and its exemplary brick buildings of the 19th and 20th century. The newly placed building showcases a differentiated structure. At the edge of the forest towards Wildpark it marks as a compact brick cuboid a transition towards a dot-shaped neighbouring construction. From the north the shape of the building constitutes in terms of design as well as historically a gate towards the new residential district, whereas the house towards the south continues as a four-storey angled linear development. The spatial density between the gatehouses transitions into a garden yard that extends like wings, with a diversified greenery that forms the centre of the residential facility. The residential dining area features terraces and balconies which face the open green towards the south-west. The facades are rendered in white and stand out from the brick cuboid. Floor-to-ceiling windows, balanced proportions and natural materials create a dignified atmosphere while on the inside, efficient energy technology, such as geothermally heated parquet flooring, create a cosy living ambiance.
