Specks Hof is one of the most important trade fair centres in the urban centre of Leipzig. It was built in the years between 1908 and 1928. The ornate design of the passages, light wells and staircases determine the character of the building and was key to the alterations to the building in 1995. The intention was to re-create the original architectural form and expression of the building and bring it into harmony with its new uses with shops offices and apartments.
The new Hansa-Haus was created in the same context as the alterations to Specks Hof. The historic Hansa-Haus building dates back to the year 1905 and connects Specks Hof to Grimmaischen Straße through its own light well.
